  • Middle School

Stacey Mitchell has been the MS Theatre Arts Director at Lake Braddock Secondary since 2015.

Stacey grew up in Wisconsin participating in theatre and music performance activities through Middle School and High School. After High School, Stacey continued to pursue theatre arts at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire where she earned a BA in Comprehensive Theatre Arts. While studying all areas of theatre in Eau Claire, Stacey fell in love with Costume Design and Educational Theatre. She worked on a team to help shape and implement the first set of National Theatre Arts Standards for Education under Dr. Cheryl Starr. After college, Stacey moved to Texas and was a business manager for several years before the draw of educational theatre was no longer able to be put aside. She returned school at Midwestern State University to certify to teach theatre in Texas. Stacey began teaching at City View Junior/Senior High in 2003. There she taught 7-12th grade Theatre and Leadership. During that time she also received her M.Ed. in Psychology and Guidance from Wayland Baptist University and School Counselor Certification from Midwestern State University. Stacey has directed many, many shows at both the HS and MS levels since beginning her education career, including competition shows at both the HS and MS levels. Her favorite thing about producing shows is the unique dynamic formed as each cast and production team collaborates to tell THEIR story.

Stacey has also participated in the review and revision of both VDOE and FCPS theatre arts curriculum standards. She is part of the Innovation teams at both the county and local levels.

Stacey realizes that not all students who walk into her Middle School classroom will make theatre arts their career, but her deepest hope is that they will find that what they learn in her class helps them to explore more about themselves, the people & world around them, and the understanding that the skills practiced in theatre arts are universal to all aspects of life. Theatre is for everyone and everyone has a place in theatre!
